Patterson Pickleball League Community Growth: The City of Patterson has started its Summer Pickleball League at Walnut Grove Gymnasium, running every Monday since early June. Open to all skill levels, games take place from 6 PM to 8 PM, beginning every 15 minutes. The league aims to support the city’s growing interest in one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S.
Pickleball’s Rise in Patterson
Pickleball has grown 311% in the past three years, according to Brandon Mackie of Pickleheads.com. That national momentum is now evident in Patterson. With structured games and a welcoming community, the city is embracing the trend.
Local players say the sport offers more than just fun. “Sometimes it’s hard to find community,” said Christine Ibarra. “Pickleball is a place of community.”
Pickleball Brings Health and Joy
In addition to the social benefits, the sport encourages fitness in a low-intensity format.
“It’s wonderful to have this opportunity to play and to grow in the sport, this up-and-coming sport,” said Bryan Stice. “There should be more people out here. It’s fun, it’s engaging, it’s great healthy exercise.”
Ibarra added, “Everyone is so kind. If you came right now, we would take you under our wing and teach you. That’s just how pickleball is.”
More Opportunities to Play
Besides the league, the City of Patterson also offers drop-in pickleball on Sundays from 10 AM to 1 PM at Walnut Grove Gymnasium. The extra play time allows new and experienced players to stay active and connected.
