Sentry Pickleball Complex Debuts in Plover, Promising a New Hub for Wisconsin’s Fastest-Growing Sport

Sentry Pickleball Complex Grand Opening: The Sentry Pickleball Complex officially opened on Tuesday morning, July 15, in Lake Pacawa Park in the Village of Plover, Wisconsin. Village leaders, the Heart of Wisconsin Pickleball Association, and Sentry Insurance representatives joined together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility.

This 35,000-square-foot venue includes 12 lighted courts, all fully wheelchair accessible. Built through a community-led effort, the complex is designed to bring pickleball players from across Wisconsin to Central Wisconsin.

Designed for Community and Competition

The facility includes several player- and spectator-friendly features. Courts have wide spaces between baselines and fences, windscreens to reduce strong gusts, and bleachers with shaded canopies to help keep viewers cool.

Steve Kunst, Village of Plover Administrator, highlighted the project’s value to the community.

“This brings people in from the village and well beyond, which is very unique. This is the one park in the village outside of the sports complex where we’re encouraging everyone from throughout Wisconsin to come and see what Plover has to offer,”.

Upcoming Events Confirm the Vision

Project leaders hoped the complex would draw major events to the region — and it already has. The Badger State Games will take place on these courts from August 8 to August 10.

The Heart of Wisconsin Pickleball Association will also host a “Learn to Play Pickleball” event on Saturday, July 26. Two sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A Long-Term Investment in Plover’s Growth

The opening of the Sentry Pickleball Complex is not just a milestone for local players. It signals Plover’s commitment to accessible recreation, healthy living, and becoming a pickleball destination. With more tournaments planned, the complex is expected to boost tourism and create lasting community pride.
