CVille Smash Set to Transform Charlottesville with First-Ever Indoor Pickleball Hub—Opening Fall 2025

CVille Smash Indoor Pickleball Facility: CVille Smash, Charlottesville’s first indoor pickleball facility, is set to open in September 2025. Located in the former Marshall’s building at Seminole Square, the new venue will include nine indoor courts, a restaurant, a club lounge, and space for both competitive and casual play.

The facility is co-founded by Lauren Carbo and Colleen Shearer, who came up with the idea while discussing new business opportunities.

“We’re brainstorming about starting a new business,” said Colleen Shearer. “We wanted to be passionate about it and I knew I was passionate about pickleball.”

The space covers 33,000 square feet and will offer flexible options like memberships, court rentals, and pay-to-play sessions. Construction is ongoing, but the venue aims to welcome players of all ages and skill levels when it opens in the fall.

Designed for Fun and Competition

The new facility will hold a liquor license and plans to mix social life with sport.

“We will have a liquor license and look forward to creating both a social environment and competitive environment,” said Lauren Carbo.

CVille Smash will also provide instruction, leagues, and tournaments to encourage both learning and growth in the sport.

“So, whether you’re super competitive or just want an evening out with the family you can do a membership or just pay to play or rent a couple courts for an hour,” added Carbo.

Creating the Right Setting

The co-founders have spent two years planning the project, aiming to offer more than just a place to play.

“We knew we wanted serious pickleball, we knew we wanted great lights,” said Shearer. “We wanted great courts, great food and have people be able to relax.”

“We’ll be open in September,” Carbo confirmed. “After two years of planning and building this out. We’re getting really close to being open.”

The team is focused on making sure the facility will appeal to a wide range of players — from serious competitors to families looking for fun.
