New Mexico’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Center Opens in Rio Rancho—Here’s Why Players Are Flocking In

Defined Pickleball Grand Opening Rio Rancho: Defined Pickleball officially opened on July 1 in Hilltop Plaza along NM 528 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The facility hosted its public celebration on July 11, drawing in crowds to experience one of the largest indoor pickleball centers in the U.S., offering 18 indoor courts, snacks, and a welcoming space for players of all skill levels.

A Major New Facility for Pickleball Players

At the opening celebration, almost every court was full as players tested the new space. The indoor facility, next to Defined Fitness in Hilltop Plaza, also includes fenced-off courts, a snack area, and a gift shop. According to Defined Pickleball board chair Paul Blanchard, it is the biggest of its kind in New Mexico.

“This is the largest facility in the state. In fact, it’s one of the largest in the United States. So, for an indoor, 18 courts is an extremely large pickleball facility,”(Paul Blanchard).

Local Support and Community Excitement

Paul Blanchard praised the local area for helping bring the facility to life.

“We want to thank Rio Rancho so much for how easy it was to do business here and how welcoming this community actually really is,”.

Paul Blanchard also recognized general manager Alexa Hintz, a local resident who will lead the Rio Rancho location.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our doors to the community,”

said Alexa Hintz in a release. She also noted the rising popularity of the sport and the facility’s importance.

“Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the game, Defined Pickleball has something for everyone,”.

A Community Celebration

Sandoval County Assessor Linda Gallegos joined the event and even played with others. She shared that she already plays regularly at courts near her home.

In addition to pickleball, the facility offers memberships, open play, and employment opportunities. The team is hiring for both full-time and part-time roles.
