Augusta Pickleball Tournament Qualifier: More than 200 players took part in the Summer Slam Qualifier held at Dink’d Pickleball in Augusta, Georgia. The event began on Saturday and continues through Sunday. It serves as a qualifying tournament for the Southern Pickleball year-end championships.
A Chance to Qualify and Have Fun
The tournament gives players, from beginners to experienced athletes, a chance to earn a spot in the championships later this year. Medalists in all skill levels will qualify. The event was organized to offer both competition and enjoyment.
Vu Nguyen, the director of pickleball, said:
“I think that there’s not a lot of opportunities to compete locally. And so anytime there’s a local tournament, people want to jump at the opportunity to play games that mean a little bit more than your average recreational game.”
Weekend Schedule
Matches started at 8 a.m. on Saturday and will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The event features a variety of matches across different divisions. Players and spectators gathered to cheer and enjoy the games.
What It Means for Local Pickleball
This tournament provides a chance for local athletes to shine. It also helps grow the sport in the Augusta area by bringing people together. The event shows how serious players are about improving and being part of the wider pickleball community.
