James Kreh Pavilion Pickleball Courts: Caseville Township has added three new covered pickleball courts under the James Kreh Pavilion. The courts were finished earlier this month with painted lines and movable nets, allowing the space to also be used for basketball. The township is now planning more park upgrades and asking residents for feedback through a community survey.
New Courts Offer Rain and Sun Protection
The covered courts were completed with the help of Wade Trim Engineering. Painting the pickleball lines cost about $7,000, which was paid for using the township’s parks and recreation fund. The work was completed on July 9.
The nets are on wheels, so they can be moved when the court is used for basketball. The same company that painted the pickleball lines will also return to paint the basketball lines.
The James Kreh Pavilion, where the courts are located, was mostly funded by money from the American Rescue Plan Act. The pavilion was built several years ago and already includes a basketball court.
Township Plans More Park Improvements
Ben Willenberg, the Caseville Township supervisor, said the township is working on more park features.
“We’re working with Wade Trim Engineering, and we have a questionnaire that’s going to be out for another couple of weeks yet,” Ben Willenberg said. “We’re going to be moving forward with some landscape, architecture, and we’re going to be designing a walking path that’ll be going through the 15-acre parcel that the township owns there. Also, we’re installing some outdoor grills for picnics, and we’ll be working on a playground.”
Residents can share their ideas by scanning QR codes posted on signs around town. The same survey is also available on the township’s website.
Residents Encouraged to Share Ideas
The township wants to hear from residents about what features they would like to see next in the park. In 2018, a similar survey helped the township decide to build a dog park.
“We did a questionnaire survey back in 2018 that we did ourselves here at the township, and two of the most popular items that people requested were a dog park and a walking trail,” Ben Willenberg said. “The dog park has been up and running now for over two years. It’s been very popular and is well used.”
The new survey was suggested by Wade Trim Engineering, the company helping design the walking trail, to make sure community feedback is current and accurate.
Looking Ahead
The new courts give local players a place to enjoy pickleball year-round. The upcoming walking path, picnic grills, and playground will make the park more fun and welcoming. With feedback from the survey, township leaders hope to add features that the community really wants.
