A Full Day of Pickleball and Community Fun

This one-day tournament invites players of all levels to enjoy exciting matches and celebrate community spirit on six new outdoor courts. The tournament is part of Albany Heritage Day, which draws over 1,500 visitors each year.

Because of recent delays, the event was announced on July 21. Organizers are encouraging quick sign-ups to ensure the tournament runs smoothly. “Please help us make it a success by registering now!” the event organizers stated.

A minimum of five teams is required for each division. If a division doesn’t meet that number, gender-based categories may be combined, though players will have the option to withdraw.

Division Start Times and Rules

  • Men’s Doubles (3.25+): Begins at 8:30 AM

  • Women’s Doubles (3.25+): Begins at 8:30 AM

  • Mixed Doubles: Begins at 2:00 PM

  • Coed FUN Division (2.0–3.25): Begins at 4:00 PM

The FUN Division is designed for novice players and welcomes any team combination, including families and kids. Check-in opens at 8:00 AM.

Teams will be divided by skill after registration ends. Skill levels will not be mixed, but gender groups may be combined if needed.

All matches follow pool play formats with games played to 9 or 11 points, depending on the pool size. Brackets will include:

  • Winner’s Bracket: Games to 11 or 15, win by 2

  • Back Draw (for Bronze only): Games to 11, win by 2

  • Medal Rounds: Best of 3 or first to 15

Every team is guaranteed at least six games.

Additional Rules and Prizes

All paddles must be approved by the United Pickleball Association or USA Pickleball Players using unapproved paddles will be asked to switch. The tournament director may change scoring formats to keep matches on schedule but will apply changes fairly across all divisions.

Players in divisions with six or more teams will compete for prize money. First- and second-place teams will receive cash awards. The final prize amounts will be announced once registration closes.

Refunds (minus processing fees) are available through July 27. If a division is canceled due to low numbers, players will receive a refund minus PB Bracket fees.
