Belhaven Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser: The Belhaven Community Chamber of Commerce donated $1,300 to the Belhaven Community Afterschool Center on Wednesday, July 17, 2025. The funds came from the second annual Belhaven Pickleball Tournament, which was held on June 21 at multiple courts in Belhaven, North Carolina.
Tournament Supports Local Kids
The tournament was organized by the Belhaven Community Chamber of Commerce and supported by many local groups. Games were held at the Charles Smith Pickleball Court, River Forest Manor, and the Belhaven Afterschool Program’s multipurpose building. The money raised will help the Belhaven Community Afterschool Center continue its work with area children.
“We are proud to support this afterschool program for area children,”
said Carol Roop, executive director of the Belhaven Community Chamber of Commerce.
Big Turnout and Strong Community Support
This year’s event included 25 teams and 14 sponsors. Dozens of spectators came out to watch, and many volunteers helped make the tournament a success. Carol Roop thanked everyone who supported the event.
“We sincerely thank everyone involved with this growing event, including River Forest Manor, which hosted our tournament,
and those associated with the Charles Smith Pickleball Court and the Belhaven Afterschool Program, which also hosted matches for our tournament,”(Carol Roop).
Players Also Help Teach the Game
Carol Roop also shared that some pickleball players from the tournament have been teaching the sport to children in the afterschool program. The $1,300 check was presented on the pickleball courts at the afterschool center’s multipurpose building. Some of the children from the program were present during the check presentation.
A Growing Event with Lasting Impact
The tournament continues to grow each year and is making a real difference in the Belhaven community. The afterschool center benefits from both the funds and the attention the event brings. With more people getting involved, the future looks bright for both the tournament and the children it supports.
