Maryland Paddle Battle Serves Up Cash Prizes, Perks, and Fierce Competition This August

The Maryland Paddle Battle, hosted by the Amateur Pickleball Association, will take place on August 2–3, 2025, at Dill Dinkers Finksburg in Maryland. Registration closes at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on July 30, and the cost to enter is $70. This pickleball tournament will feature events for players from skill levels 2.5 to 5.0, with divisions split by skill and age. Participants must register through the Amateur Pickleball Association website to compete.

Multiple Skill Levels and Events

This event welcomes all amateur players and is part of a national series planned by the Amateur Pickleball Association. Over 150 tournaments are expected to be held in 2025. The Maryland Paddle Battle will offer round-robin play followed by bracket matches. Players can expect to compete in at least six games, with most participants playing 7–9 total games.

Divisions will be sorted by skill level first, and then by age depending on the number of teams entered. Players are encouraged to check the rules about qualifying divisions before signing up, especially regarding DUPR ratings. The event will follow specific formatting with doubles starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, mixed doubles on Sunday morning, and singles matches in the afternoon on either day.

Earning Rewards with PicklePerks

The Amateur Pickleball Association includes a rewards system called PicklePerks. “The Amateur Pickleball Association is the largest amateur player tour in the nation with nearly 150 tournaments planned for 2025 and the only program with PicklePerks where every participant earns money with APA with every registration and event victory!”

Registration Discounts and Game Format

Players can enter multiple events at a reduced cost. The first event is $70, the second is $55, and the third is $35 with a code from the tournament director. Doubles matches will be played to 11 points, win by 2. Singles matches will use rally scoring to 21, win by 2.

To simplify sign-up, the Amateur Pickleball Association will sort all players by skill level during registration. “It is each player’s responsibility to review and understand the posted policies prior to completing registration,”.

Players must meet certain DUPR qualifications, including having 25+ games posted and a reliability score over 60%. All participants will be placed into their correct division based on these ratings.

Refund and Credit Policies

The tournament does not offer refunds once registration is complete. Players who withdraw at least two weeks before the tournament may receive full credit toward another event. In the case of weather disruptions, outdoor events will not have indoor backups. If no matches are played, players may receive a 50% credit. No credit is given once matches begin.

Players who register without a partner and do not get matched before the event will receive credit only—not a refund. The same policy applies to late registrations and partner changes made within two weeks of the tournament date.

Cash Prizes for Open Division

The Maryland Paddle Battle includes an Open Division with cash prizes. This division is open to all players regardless of age or skill. Payouts for a full 14-team bracket are:

  • Gold: $1,000

  • Silver: $600

  • Bronze: $400

Prize money is split as follows: 50% for gold, 30% for silver, and 20% for bronze.

A Chance to Compete and Grow

With a wide range of events, rewards, and cash prizes, the Maryland Paddle Battle offers something for every pickleball player. Events like this bring amateur players together, help improve their rankings, and reward top finishers. As pickleball continues to grow, tournaments like this one give players the chance to develop and compete in a fun, rewarding environment.
