The Oklahoma Amateur Open will take place on August 2–3, 2025, at Hey Pickle Pickle in Norman, Oklahoma. The Amateur Pickleball Association hosts this pickleball tournament and is open to players from skill levels 2.5 to 5.0. Registration costs $70 and ends on July 30 at 8:00 a.m. Central Standard Time. This event features round-robin matches and brackets, with most players playing between 7 and 9 games over the weekend.
Open to All Amateur Skill Levels
The Oklahoma Amateur Open welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. Events will be divided by skill first, then by age if enough players are signed up. The Amateur Pickleball Association plans to host nearly 150 tournaments in 2025 and is known for offering a high-quality experience for amateur players.
The Amateur Pickleball Association is the largest amateur player tour in the nation with nearly 150 tournaments planned for 2025 and the only program with PicklePerks where every participant earns money with APA with every registration and event victory!
Game Schedule and Format
The tournament will follow a clear schedule: doubles matches will start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, mixed doubles will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, and singles matches will take place in the afternoon on either day. There is a six-game guarantee for all participants.
Doubles games will be played as single-game, round-robin matches to 11 points, win by 2. Medal matches will follow a best 2-out-of-3 set format. Singles matches will use rally scoring up to 21 points, win by 2.
Players are expected to understand their division requirements. “It is each player’s responsibility to review and understand the posted policies prior to completing registration,” said organizers.
DUPR and Division Rules
Participants must follow the rules based on their DUPR rating. Those with at least 25 posted games and a 60% or higher reliability rating will be placed into divisions that match their official DUPR score, even if they believe they should play at a different level.
PicklePerks Reward Program
Every player who registers and wins games can earn PicklePerks. These perks turn into credits that can be used toward future events or gear.
Entry Fees and Discounts
The early bird registration fee is $75 for the first event, $55 for the second, and $35 for the third. Players entering a third event must email the tournament director for a discount code.
Refunds and Weather Policy
Once payment is made, registration is final. No refunds will be issued, but credits will be available if players cancel more than two weeks before the event. There are no indoor backup plans if weather interrupts the tournament. A 50% credit may be given if no matches are played due to weather. No credit will be issued once matches begin.
Credits—not refunds—will be given to players who sign up without a partner and are not matched before the event. The same applies to late registrations and last-minute partner changes.
If a player changes partners within two weeks of the tournament, the new partner must register and pay separately. The removed player will receive credit minus a $15 administrative fee. If the Amateur Pickleball Association finds a new partner instead, the withdrawing player will not receive credit.
Cash Prizes in Open Division
The event features a special Open Division for any age or skill level. This division offers cash prizes if it sells out with 14 teams:
Gold: $1,000
Silver: $600
Bronze: $400
Prize money is split as follows: 50% for gold, 30% for silver, and 20% for bronze winners.
Boosting the Pickleball Community
The Oklahoma Amateur Open brings together amateur players from all over the region. With strong competition, skill-based divisions, and cash rewards, the event offers an exciting opportunity to grow in the sport.
