Kennedy Krieger Institute Launches Region’s First Inclusive Pickleball Tournament—Here’s How to Join

Kennedy Krieger Pickleball Tournament: The Kennedy Krieger Institute will host “Pickleball for All,” the area’s first fully accessible and adaptive pickleball tournament, on Saturday, September 20 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place at Dill Dinkers Pickleball Club – White Marsh, located at 140 Merritt Way in White Marsh, Maryland.

The tournament is open to players of all abilities and skill levels who are 16 years or older. Participants can register alone or with a partner. The event will feature beginner clinics, round-robin tournament play, and adaptive matches with mixed teams of adaptive and nonadaptive athletes.

Open to All, Supporting a Cause

“Pickleball for All” is more than just a tournament. It raises money for the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s adult adaptive sports and recreation program. This program, which began in 2012, helps nearly 150 athletes each year with activities such as handcycling, wheelchair lacrosse, and bowling. The goal is to support people of all abilities in living healthy and active lives.

Tournament Format and Entry

The event will follow a round-robin format with semi-final and final matches. Registration costs start at $35. Teams are also encouraged to fundraise, with prizes awarded to the top fundraisers. The registration deadline is Saturday, September 6.

This tournament marks a major step in making pickleball more inclusive. It gives adaptive athletes a space to compete and connect while also raising awareness and support for year-round programs. Kennedy Krieger Institute aims to show that active living should be accessible for everyone.
