White House Pickleball Courts Grant: The city of White House, Tennessee, has been awarded $704,000 in state funding to build three new lighted pickleball courts with fencing and restrooms. The grant comes from the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), part of the 2025–26 state budget approved by the 114th General Assembly.
Expanding Pickleball Access
This project is one of 31 across the state supported by the LPRF program. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation is overseeing the grant distribution. The goal is to support outdoor recreation by helping local governments improve parks and build new spaces for community use.
A Growing Sport for All Ages
Pickleball continues to grow in popularity across the United States. The 2025 Sports and Fitness Industry Association’s Topline Participation Report estimates that 20 million people play pickleball each week, making it the fastest-growing sport in the country for the fourth year in a row.
State lawmakers representing Robertson and Sumner counties, including House Majority Leader William Lamberth, State Representative Sabi “Doc” Kumar, Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, Senate Speaker Pro-Tempore Ferrell Haile, and State Senator Kerry Roberts, praised the project in a joint statement:
“Whether a seasoned player or curious beginner, these new and improved courts provide fun that White House residents of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy,”. “Communities thrive through outdoor recreation; by investing in high-quality facilities, we’re encouraging better health and a greater connection to our neighbors. We are thrilled to support this effort.”
Supporting Local Communities
The LPRF program offers matching funds to help towns and cities across Tennessee improve their recreational areas. These funds can be used to develop parks, buy land, or create green spaces and public facilities. White House is one of many communities to benefit this year from the state’s $22 million investment in local recreation.
