West Side Park Pickleball Upgrades: Fencing has been installed around the six new pickleball courts at West Side Park, located at 544 West Sumner Street in Hartford, Wisconsin. The city plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2025, once the final touches—including signage and gates—are complete.
The new courts opened earlier this month and are already popular among players. According to the City of Hartford, they hope to finish installing the remaining features before the event.
Final Touches in Progress
While the courts are complete, the city is still waiting for signs and gates to arrive. These will be added in the coming days. In addition, crews will build a stairway from Grant Street to the main gate to make the area easier to access.
“We look forward to celebrating with our community, supporters and partners who made this possible,” stated the City of Hartford in a post on Facebook.
More Plans for 2026
The pickleball court project is not finished yet. The city has more improvements planned for next year. These include a seating area near the courts and the nearby playground.
“Staff will now begin planning out the seating area that will accompany the courts and playground. This is scheduled to be constructed next year,” said the Facebook post. “We are still seeking donation toward this project.”
Anyone interested in supporting the next phase can contact Hartford Parks and Recreation Director Randy Wojtasiak.
Growing Community Interest
The new courts have already been well-used by residents since their completion. The city’s continued investment in outdoor recreation shows strong support for active living in the community. Once the stairway and other additions are built, the site will be even more welcoming.
