Southern Illinois University Carbondale is preparing to host the 2025 Saluki Open Pickleball Tournament on September 13 and 14. Held at the 16-court Saluki Courts on Marion Rushing Lane, the event welcomes players aged 12 and up from around the country for a weekend of outdoor round-robin matches.
This is the fifth year for the tournament, organized by Recreational Sports and Services. Registration is now open, and players can sign up online. The event often attracts competitors from across the nation, including as far as California. The courts will be open on Friday, September 12, for practice sessions.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The Saluki Open features round-robin play and is divided into skill levels. This allows players to face others with similar experience.
Matches begin at 8 a.m. each day:
Saturday, September 13 – Men’s and women’s doubles
Sunday, September 14 – Mixed doubles
Game times will vary depending on the number of participants and how long each match takes. Spectators and media are welcome to attend and enjoy the tournament atmosphere.
Registration Fees and Discounts
Players can take advantage of a reduced fee if they sign up early.
Before 9 p.m. on July 31 – $40
August 1 to September 1 – $45
September 2 to final deadline at 10 p.m. on September 7 – $50
Southern Illinois University students can join at a discounted rate of $25 using the code SIUStudent25 during registration.
