Glencoe Pickleball Project Funding: A grant of $20,000 has been awarded to the Glencoe area pickleball group for the construction of new pickleball courts at Oscar Olson Park in Glencoe, Minnesota. The funding comes from CorTrust Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) through the Member Impact Fund.
CorTrust Bank donated $5,000 to the project, which was then matched with $15,000 from FHLB Des Moines. This three-to-one match aims to support community development and affordable housing through grants to member institutions.
Funding Supports Local Recreation
The funds will go toward building dedicated pickleball courts to provide more recreational space for local families and residents. The new courts are part of a larger effort to make parks in Glencoe more accessible and useful to the community.
Dean Suchy, Minnesota market president at CorTrust Bank, said, “CorTrust Bank is proud to partner with FHLB Des Moines to contribute funds towards causes that are a driving force of positive change in our local communities. The Glencoe area pickleball group is one of those causes. We are thrilled to be working with them to ensure their dedication toward community development initiatives continues.”
Nikki Voss, a member of the Glencoe area pickleball fundraising committee, thanked the donors. “This generous donation made the project a reality. To have pickleball available to area families and residents in one of our city parks is a real asset to our community.”
Supporting Community Growth
Hillary McQuade, vice president and director of marketing at CorTrust Bank, said the project aligns with the bank’s mission. “When applying on behalf of the Glencoe pickleball group, we believed this project fit well into the community development pillar of the grant program,” said Hillary McQuade. “That includes recreational facilities and programs, like these courts, which strengthen the quality of life in small towns like Glencoe.”
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines created the Member Impact Fund in 2023. It provides up to $3 in matching funds for every $1 contributed by its members. The program supports efforts like affordable housing, youth programs, and community recreation.
Kris Williams, president and CEO of FHLB Des Moines, said, “The Member Impact Fund continues to be a powerful resource in supporting our members as they expand access to affordable housing and drive community development. It’s inspiring to see the partnerships centered around improving local communities in such a variety of ways.”
Strengthening Community Wellness
The new pickleball courts will give Glencoe residents another place to stay active and connect with others. The project shows how local banks and national programs can work together to support small towns and improve daily life.
