Mike Wingate shared his hopes for the future of pickleball in Norfolk.
“I think it gives Norfolk a huge opportunity, especially if they wanted to increase the amount of courts and things over time,” Wingate said.
“As pickleball picks up in Norfolk that they could be doing tournaments and that would bring a ton of people into Norfolk to play pickleball throughout the summers.”
How the Project Began
The idea for the new courts started about a year and a half ago. Mike Wingate, Tom Schueth, and Bryan Adams donated $300,000 to support the project. Their goal was to give the Norfolk community a new place to play and connect. The courts officially opened to the public around a month ago.
