Park Upgrades Already Completed
At the Panama City Beach City Council meeting held on Thursday, the Parks and Recreation Division shared that many improvements at Frank Brown Park are now complete. These include updated tennis courts, brand-new basketball courts, a new skate park, and a new roof for the community center.
“Not only are we adding new infrastructure on the ground, adding the skate park, re-doing the basketball courts, re-doing the tennis courts, but Parks and Recs makes it so that everyone can enjoy it, they do a lot of programming, both during the summer and in the fall,” said Panama City Beach Mayor Stuart Tettemer.
Pickleball Courts Coming Soon
A major new feature coming to the park is pickleball courts. The designs and bid documents are ready, and construction is expected to begin soon.
“There was a master plan developed several years ago and put for council and residents on things they wanted to see, and we’ve been slowly adding those, I think I’m really proud of Frank Brown Park, there’s not a lot of places you can go and have that many amenities, I mean, if you can’t find something to do at Frank Brown Park,” said Cheryl Joyner, the Director of Parks and Recreation for Panama City Beach.
What’s Next for the Park
More improvements are scheduled for later this fall. These include new lights at the North Complex and a Miracle League pavilion with restrooms. These additions will help make the park more accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all ages and abilities.
