Discover Pickleball: Longview’s Free Beginner Clinic Promises Fun, Fitness, and New Friends July 30

Longview’s Beginner Pickleball Clinic: A beginner pickleball clinic will take place on July 30 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Broughton Recreation Center, located at 801 South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Longview, Texas. The class is hosted by the City of Longview Parks and Recreation and is open to anyone new to the sport. Instructor Jessica Guire will guide participants through the basics of pickleball, including rules, equipment, and beginner skills.

Learning the Basics of Pickleball

This Level One clinic is designed for players with little to no experience. It will help attendees understand how to get started with pickleball and feel confident enough to play with friends and family.

According to organizers, “The Beginner Pickleball clinic Level One is for brand-new players with zero or very little experience. We will cover rules, equipment requirements, basic skills– everything needed to get you on the court with friends and family.”

What to Bring

Participants are asked to bring their own pickleball paddle and a water bottle. While court shoes are recommended, low-profile running shoes are also acceptable. The clinic aims to be simple, fun, and helpful for newcomers.

“If you have never played or just recently introduced to the sport, this clinic is for you,” the program description states.

Who Should Join and Where

The clinic falls under the Recreation Classes subcategory and will be held at the Broughton Recreation Center instead of the address listed for the City of Longview Parks and Recreation office at 130 East Timpson Street. Jessica Guire, the listed instructor, will lead the session and ensure all players receive hands-on guidance.

Building Community Through Pickleball

This clinic not only teaches the sport but also builds a stronger local sports community by introducing new players to pickleball in a relaxed, friendly setting. As interest in pickleball grows across Texas and the U.S., beginner events like these play an important role in helping more people get involved in physical activity.
