Grant Slam Pickleball Open: The first-ever Grant Slam Pickleball Open, sponsored by the APP Tour, will take place on August 9 and 10, 2025, at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. This two-day event will feature round robin doubles matches for skill levels 3.0 to 5.0+, followed by single-elimination playoffs. The tournament offers a fun and competitive space for both new and experienced players. Registration costs $50 and ends at 8:00 a.m. CST on August 4, 2025.

A New Chapter for Chicago Pickleball

The Grant Slam Pickleball Open is the first official pickleball tournament at Grant Park. Located at 1000 South Columbus Drive in Chicago, this venue is known for hosting large public events and now adds pickleball to its lineup.

The tournament includes Men’s and Women’s Doubles on Saturday and Mixed Doubles on Sunday. Each bracket will be played in a four-hour block, keeping play organized and fair for all.

The tournament is supported by the APP Tour, a national pickleball series known for promoting the sport across the United States. With its backing, the event is expected to draw serious attention from players across the region.

Rewards for Participants and Winners

Every registered player will receive perks tied to the 2025 APP Chicago Open. This larger tournament is scheduled for August 27–31, 2025, at Danny Cunniff Park, located at 2700 Trail Way, Highland Park, Illinois.

Division winners at the Grant Slam Pickleball Open will earn:

  • An official invitation to compete in the APP Chicago Open.

All players who sign up will receive:

  • A promo code for discounted entry into the APP Chicago Open.

  • Automatic entry into a raffle for VIP tickets, APP merchandise, or other player benefits.

On-site features will include an APP Activation Tent where players can meet the APP team, learn about future events, and enjoy giveaways, raffles, and more.

Refund Policy and Weather Plan

Organizers shared their refund rules in case players need to cancel. A full refund is available if a player withdraws at least 72 hours before their scheduled match. This does not include processing fees charged by the registration platform.

The tournament is outdoors, and weather could cause delays or changes. If a division has already started, no refunds will be given. But if a division is canceled completely due to weather, players will get their event fee refunded.

Organizers stated:

“We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as fair and flexible as possible for all players.”

“Refunds will not be issued for delays, shortened formats, or match adjustments caused by weather or logistical challenges.”

The policy is designed to protect both players and the event, while ensuring a great experience.

Looking Ahead

The Grant Slam Pickleball Open is not just a local tournament — it’s a key moment for the Chicago pickleball community. It offers players a chance to shine on one of the city’s biggest outdoor stages, with direct ties to a national tour.

With support from the APP Tour, competitive prizes, and a friendly environment, this tournament could become a regular highlight on the Chicago sports calendar.

Organizers encourage players to register early due to limited space.
