LeFrak Center Unveils Brooklyn’s First Pickleball Courts in Exciting Prospect Park Makeover

LeFrak Center Pickleball Courts Launch: The LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, will reopen on August 2, 2025, with new activities, including its first-ever pickleball courts. As part of a major renovation, the Prospect Park Alliance is adding the popular sport to the list of outdoor attractions available to the public.

Pickleball Arrives at LeFrak Center

The updated center now includes pickleball, which has become one of the most popular sports in the country. This is the first time the sport is being offered at the LeFrak Center. Players can enjoy the new courts along with roller skating, pedal boats, and the largest splash pad in Brooklyn.

Visitors during reopening weekend will get free access to selected activities like skating and yoga. Pickleball courts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Part of a Major Renovation

The pickleball courts are part of the first major upgrades since the center opened in 2013. The LeFrak Center has received improved lighting, upgraded bathrooms, better mechanical systems, and a new café, Duck Island Cafe, from Purslane/Oberon Restaurant Group.

Leaders Look to the Future

“The LeFrak Center at Lakeside is one of the most ambitious projects in Prospect Park Alliance’s history,” said Prospect Park Alliance President Morgan Monaco. “Since its opening in 2013, we have served hundreds of thousands of community members each year with dynamic programs and activities. With the selection of new operators, extensive renovations, and the appointment of the first LeFrak Center Director, we are looking at a bright future.”
