Middletown Middle School Serves Up Excitement With New Kids’ Pickleball Program—Here’s Why Families Are Buzzing

Middletown Middle School Pickleball Program: A new kids’ pickleball program led by Essam Laskar began on July 29, 2025, at Middletown Middle School in Middletown, Maryland. The weekly sessions take place every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. through August 19. The program is designed to teach young players the basics of pickleball while encouraging teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Classes are held at the MMS Tennis Courts at 100 Martha Mason Street. The program is run by Laskar Pickleball and is open to kids who are new to the sport or want to build their skills in a fun and supportive setting.

Learning the Basics on the Court

Each session focuses on helping kids understand the rules of pickleball and improve their basic techniques. The program also teaches how to work with teammates and respect opponents. Instructor Essam Laskar created the course to give young players a chance to grow while enjoying the game.

Kids learn through drills, friendly games, and group activities. The relaxed and friendly environment helps players feel confident as they try new things on the court.

A Fun Way to Build Confidence and Teamwork

The goal of the program is not just to teach pickleball skills but also to help children learn about sportsmanship. Through fun challenges and small matches, the children build friendships and confidence.

Parents and organizers believe the program could become a regular activity at Middletown Middle School in the future if it stays popular. The community response so far has been positive, with families excited about more options for youth sports in the area.
