Bullard Park Pickleball Court Upgrades: New pickleball courts are being completed at Bullard Park in Albion, New York. On July 29, 2025, workers from JM Pro Courts & Surface Solutions in Lancaster began sealing the court surface, which was once part of the parking lot. Painting is scheduled to be finished later the same day.
The two fenced-in courts are located beside the basketball courts. The surfaces will be painted purple with green edges, matching the nearby basketball courts. These additions mark another improvement at Bullard Park, led by Greater Albion Community Recreation and Events, Inc.
Fundraising and Community Support
Greater Albion Community Recreation and Events, Inc., also known as G-ACRE, is the nonprofit organization responsible for securing grants and donations for park upgrades. Member Susan Oschmann said that while fencing and some surface work are already paid for, about $5,000 is still needed to complete the project.
“Some generous donors, including Judge Sanford Church, have paid for fencing and part of the costs for the sealing and painting,” (Susan Oschmann).
To raise the remaining funds, Susan Oschmann will sell $5 raffle tickets at the Rock the Park event on Friday and Saturday. The raffle includes wine and beer prizes. A GoFundMe page has also been set up to collect donations for the project.
Pickleball Demo Day and Future Expansion
The first coat of sealing has already been applied, and the final purple paint is expected to go on later in the afternoon. On Saturday, from noon to 4:00 p.m., there will be live demonstrations on the new courts. Visitors will have the chance to learn how pickleball is played and watch players in action.
Pickleball, a sport that uses paddles and a perforated plastic ball, has become the fastest-growing sport in the United States over the past four years. The courts are smaller than tennis courts, making them more accessible to players of all ages.
Susan Oschmann said that if the courts prove to be popular, there is space next to the current courts to build two more.
