Patch Reef Park Unveils State-of-the-Art Covered Pickleball Courts—Opening Soon!

Patch Reef Park Covered Pickleball Courts: The Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District plans to finish building new covered pickleball courts at Patch Reef Park by the end of October 2025, if the weather allows. The project began in early 2024 and is part of a $7.5 million plan to improve the park’s paddle and racquet facilities.

New Courts Near Completion

The district’s executive director, Briann Harms, confirmed the timeline for the covered pickleball courts. The full project will include 33 pickleball courts, with 18 of them covered, and 13 tennis courts. Two of the 18 covered courts will be ADA-accessible to support players with disabilities.

The design work started in 2023. Construction officially began in January 2024. As of now, 12 uncovered pickleball courts and all 13 tennis courts are open for public use.

Once the 18 covered courts are finished, the district will begin rebuilding the 12 uncovered pickleball courts and updating the tennis courts. The project also includes 34 new parking spaces to help handle more visitors.

Responding to Community Needs

Many local players have been asking for covered courts for a long time. Covered courts offer protection from the sun and rain, helping preserve the surface and make play more comfortable throughout the day.

“Having covered courts will preserve the courts from sun damage and rain, but more importantly, it’s better for the health of the players,”. “There will be fans on the covered courts, so people can play all day long.”(Briann Harms)

The facility will also have seating for fans and social areas with tables and chairs, giving players and visitors a place to relax and talk.

“It’s going to be beautiful,” Briann Harms said.

What It Means for the Community

The covered courts are a big improvement for Patch Reef Park and the Boca Raton area. They will allow more people to enjoy pickleball all year round. The project shows the district’s effort to meet the growing demand for better and more comfortable recreational spaces.

The next phase of the project will focus on renovating the existing outdoor courts. When everything is finished, Patch Reef Park will offer one of the best paddle and racquet facilities in the region.
