Pickle Paddle Fundraiser Smashes Expectations, Raises $8,000+ for Rice County Health Programs

Pickle Paddle Fundraiser for Health Nonprofits: Rice County Area United Way hosted its first Pickle Paddle fundraiser on July 12 at the Riverside Park Pickleball Courts. The event brought in more than $8,000, all of which will go to nonprofit agencies in Rice County that focus on health-related services.

Pickleball for a Cause

Ten mixed doubles teams participated in the Pickle Paddle, a friendly pickleball tournament aimed at supporting local health programs. The money raised will go directly to Rice County United Way’s partner agencies. These include HealthFinders, Three Rivers Community Action, Healthy Community Initiative, and Aging Services for Communities.

These groups help vulnerable people in Rice County. Their work includes medical and mental health services, education about healthy living, care for older adults in their homes, and rides to doctor’s appointments.

Support and Sponsorship

Laura Riehle-Merril, Executive Director of Rice County Area United Way, said these programs are especially important now.

The event received strong backing from local sponsors. Merchants Bank, Allina Health, and Carleton College were the main supporters that helped make the Pickle Paddle possible.

The success of the Pickle Paddle shows how fun community events can raise money for serious needs. The funds raised will help these agencies continue their vital work in Rice County. Future events may continue to grow this effort, bringing more support where it’s needed most.
