New Pickleball Courts in Pooler Launched With a Grand Opening

New Pickleball Courts in Pooler: Pickleball enthusiasts in Pooler have a reason to celebrate as the City of Pooler unveils eight new pickleball courts at the Pooler Tennis Complex. This $3 million investment, approved in September 2022, marks a significant boost for local pickleball players who have eagerly awaited these new facilities.

The opening ceremony for the courts took place Wednesday morning, following a ribbon-cutting event at 9:30 a.m. The newly completed courts will be available for public use daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and access to the courts is free.

Joshua Hagan, a local pickleball enthusiast, shared his enthusiasm about the new facilities and highlighted the strong community interest. He remarked that the excitement is palpable, noting the already active GroupMe and Facebook page dedicated to the new venue.

. “A lot of people are very excited for it. We have a GroupMe already and a Facebook page, and I think the GroupMe already has over 100 members and we haven’t even played a game here yet. So I know it’s going to relieve a little bit of pressure off of how many folks are at Richmond Hill. But I can guarantee you at least the first couple weeks here, you’ll have 60, 70, 80 people. I can almost guarantee that,”

The Pooler Tennis Complex now features a total of eight pickleball courts alongside six tennis courts, catering to a high demand from local players. The project’s completion comes as a welcomed relief to residents who previously traveled to Richmond Hill for their pickleball games.

Felicia Burch, a local pickleball enthusiast, highlighted the sport’s inclusive nature. She noted that pickleball’s straightforward learning curve makes it accessible to nearly everyone.

“The learning curve is very short for the basics, so almost anyone can come out here and play. So I think having the community come out and be social with each other, get more activities, get their blood pumping a little bit, is really important. Just getting away from the TVs and the game screens and such,” -(Felicia Burch)

The new pickleball courts offer a valuable addition to the community, providing an accessible and engaging activity for residents of all ages.
