Pickle & Pong 24/7 Pickleball Access: A new sports facility in Middletown, Kentucky, is giving pickleball and pingpong players a place to play any time of day or night. Opened in late July 2025, Pickle and Pong is open 24/7 and aims to support the growing demand for both sports in the community.
Around-the-Clock Access for All
Cynthia Williams and her husband opened Pickle and Pong to serve players with all kinds of schedules. By staying open all day and night, the facility helps those who work late shifts or odd hours find time to play.
“There are a lot of people who can’t play during normal hours,” Cynthia Williams said. “They work third shift — doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, Ford workers, LG&E employees — they want to be able to play, too. A lot of places close by the time they’re getting off work, and we just want to make it accessible for everybody.”
The center supports people of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Williams believes the sport’s simplicity makes it easy for anyone to enjoy.
“This is something we can play and feel good about,” she said. “It’s inclusive. You can have the lowest skill level to the highest in the same game. It’s very inclusive and fun for everybody.”
Celebrating National Pickleball Day
To mark National Pickleball Day on Friday, August 8, Cynthia Williams will open Pickle and Pong to the public for free during select hours. This event aims to introduce more people to the sport and grow the local pickleball community.
“We believe this will be a college sport within the next five years,” Williams said. “So we really want kids involved in our facility and plan to start some training programs, clinics and things like that.”
Pickle and Pong already offers lessons and clinics for players of all ages and skill levels. The facility encourages kids and teens to join and plans to expand its youth training programs.
Pickleball’s Rapid Rise
According to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association, pickleball has grown quickly across the United States. Between 2020 and 2023, the number of people who played the sport more than doubled.
With that growth in mind, Pickle and Pong’s 24/7 access and community-focused events give Middletown a fresh way to support the trend. The owners hope their center becomes a hub for fun, fitness, and connection.
