National Pickleball Day Philadelphia Event: Philadelphia will celebrate National Pickleball Day with a free event at Headhouse Plaza on Thursday, August 7. The open-play event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. and features four courts available on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s open to all ages and skill levels.
Food, Fun, and Pickleball
The event is sponsored by the restaurant Bridget Foy’s and gin brand The Botanist. Guests can enjoy pickle-themed food and drinks while they play or watch games at the plaza, located at 2nd and South Streets.
This is the second year Bridget Foy’s has organized a pickleball celebration for the national holiday. Last year’s special food menu included items like pickle sliders, pickle deviled eggs, and mini pickle sub sandwiches.
Welcoming All Players
No experience is needed to join the games. There will be communal paddles available for anyone who doesn’t have their own gear. This makes it easy for beginners to jump in and give the sport a try.
Live music will be provided by DJ John Gill, who will perform throughout the evening, adding energy and fun to the event.
Get There Early
Although the event is free and open to everyone, space on the courts may be limited. Bridget Foy’s Instagram account recommends arriving early to sign up and get a chance to play.
A Growing Community Event
This celebration helps bring more people into the sport and creates a fun way for the community to come together. By offering open courts, food, music, and an inviting space for all ages, the event highlights the growing popularity of pickleball in Philadelphia and beyond.
