Pickleball Showdown Unites Long Beach Island for Compassion Café’s Inspiring Cause

Long Beach Island Pickleball Fundraiser: The Long Beach Island Pickleball Friends will hold its first fundraiser on Saturday, August 10, at the Nelson Avenue Pickleball Complex in Beach Haven. The event aims to support Compassion Café, a nonprofit that gives job training and work experience to teens and adults with disabilities.

If it rains, the fundraiser will move to Sunday, August 11.

Competitive Fun for a Cause

The event will bring together the local pickleball community for a full day of fun and competitive play. Organizers created three skill levels for the tournament: fun, feisty, and formidable.

Each level will have a chance to win door prizes. Matches will run throughout the day, starting with women’s games at 8 a.m., followed by men’s at 11:30 a.m., and mixed play at 3:30 p.m. The same schedule will apply if the rain date is used.

How to Join

Players must donate $50 to take part in the event. Those who want to enter an extra category can do so for $10. All payments must be made by check to Compassion Café.

Entry spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Building a Stronger Community

The fundraiser not only supports a good cause but also brings people together. Compassion Café offers real work opportunities for those who may otherwise be left out. The Long Beach Island Pickleball Friends created this event to help fund that mission while also growing the local pickleball scene.

By connecting sports and community support, the event shows how recreation can make a difference. More fundraisers like this could boost both pickleball and the causes it supports.
