Shreveport Pickleball Complex Project: A major step was taken toward building a new pickleball complex in Shreveport. On August 4, 2025, the Caddo Parish Economic Development Committee voted to move the project forward to the full Caddo Parish Commission for more discussion on August 18.
Support Grows for the Project
The meeting gave project leaders a chance to explain how the complex could help the area. They believe it could bring in more sports tourism and boost local business.
“This will let rights holders know, in this region, in this country, that we are serious about youth sports tourism, and sports tourism as a whole. This is bigger than just pickleball,”
said Patrick Wesley, Director of Parks and Recreation for Caddo Parish. Supporters say the complex could host events and give people a new place to play and gather.
“Knowing that USA Pickleball is going to be providing the equipment, and anything to support this program. This is such a huge opportunity,”
shares District 8 Commissioner Grace Anne Blake.
Questions Still Remain
Some commissioners raised concerns. They asked about the cost, whether there would be shaded areas, and if the complex would be worth the money in the long run.
Others, however, felt confident it would bring value to the community.
“It seems like a great way to improve the quality of life here,” says District 4 Commissioner John-Paul Young during the meeting’s closing statements.
What’s Next
The next step is for the full Caddo Parish Commission to review and discuss the project during its meeting on August 18. If approved, the plan for the multi-million dollar complex could start moving forward soon.
The final decision could shape the future of sports and recreation in Shreveport.
