Pickleball Palooza Charity Event Paris TN: The Bethel University Physician Assistant Program will host its Pickleball Palooza this Saturday at Eiffel Tower Park in Paris, Tennessee. The event begins with sign-in at 7:30 a.m. and games starting at 8:00 a.m. All funds raised will go to the NBIA Disorders Association.
Playing for a Cause
The Pickleball Palooza is a fundraiser supporting the NBIA Disorders Association. NBIA stands for Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation, a rare condition that affects brain areas controlling muscle movement. The association helps families living with the disorder and works with scientists on research and treatments.
The Bethel University Physician Assistant Program began raising money for NBIA 13 years ago to honor Cole Tanner. His mother, Johanna Tanner, helped lead the program to success and became a key figure in its growth. In 2009, Johanna Tanner opened the program’s current facility to train future physician assistants.
In thanks for her work, the students, staff, and faculty created an annual event to support the search for a cure for Cole Tanner’s condition.
Event Details and Sponsors
This year’s event will take place at Eiffel Tower Park in Paris, Tennessee, where pickleball has become a favorite local sport. There will be games for all skill levels—Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced—and medals for top teams in each category.
Businesses are also encouraged to support the event through sponsorship. Donations come with levels of visibility:
$50 to sponsor a tent
$100 to sponsor a court
So far, six businesses have signed on as court sponsors:
Security Bank, Dynamix, Cowan Home Solutions, WTPR, B&G Equipment, and Global Seas Accounting Office.
Two companies—Jack’s Java and Nonni’s Pizza—have sponsored tents.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for your business’s name to be seen by so many people!” the organizers said.
Supporting a Greater Mission
Pickleball Palooza is more than a sports event—it is a show of support for families affected by rare neurological disorders. The efforts of Bethel University’s Physician Assistant Program have helped raise both money and awareness.
By continuing to host this event, the group hopes to bring the community together and move one step closer to finding a cure for NBIA disorders.
