PickleCon 2025 Glow-in-the-Dark Party: PickleCon 2025 began Thursday night in downtown Kansas City with a unique Glow in the Dark Kickoff Party. Dozens of players from across the U.S. gathered to play pickleball on courts lit by neon lights, glowing paddles, and bright clothing. This special event started the convention with fun and excitement.
Glow-in-the-Dark Challenge Lights Up the Night
The Glow in the Dark event returned for its second year, drawing more players each time. Participants played under neon lights that helped them see the ball despite the dark surroundings. Jennifer Danay from KC Crew, one of the event organizers, explained that the lights make the game visible and suggested players avoid dark clothes to stay visible. Players found the glow party both fun and difficult.
Players Share Their Experience
Logan Daniels from Lawrence, Kansas, joked about the difficulty of making line calls in the dark, saying, “Oh man, it’s so fun, but I can’t see like at all.” Yuki Thit, a player from Omaha, said, “I’m really bad in general in the dark, so I don’t know how it’s going to go, but it’s been really fun with my friends.” Rodney Rodriguez from Houston added, “It’s exciting. It’s fun. And it’s really challenging when you can’t see.” Daniels also mentioned how the glowing ball seemed to move strangely, “It kinda looks like the ball is going in like stop motion… It’s just hard to track.”
PickleCon will continue through the weekend, hosting thousands of pickleball players from the U.S. and around the world for tournaments, events, and fun.
