Tumbleweed Park Pickleball Facility Opening: A new pickleball facility with 18 courts is set to open next month at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler, Arizona. The ribbon-cutting event will take place on September 6. The courts will feature LED lights, practice areas, and restrooms, and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Growing Pickleball Demand in Chandler
Since 2018, the City of Chandler has added 10 pickleball courts at existing parks to meet the rising interest in the sport. The new addition of 18 courts will bring the city above the national standard of one pickleball court per 12,000 people.
City Officials Highlight Expansion Efforts
John Sefton, Chandler’s Community Services Director, said the city recognized the need to expand pickleball facilities as the sport gained popularity.
“As pickleball’s popularity has continued to grow, it was clear that Chandler had an opportunity to expand its footprint to accommodate the demand,” he stated.
The new facility at Tumbleweed Park is expected to provide more space and options for players, helping the city support the growing pickleball community.
