Grant-Funded Benches Transform Houghton Lake Pickleball Courts into a Community Hub

Houghton Lake Pickleball Club Improvements: The Houghton Lake Pickleball Club has installed two new 8-foot polywood benches on its courts, funded by a $1,025 grant from the Roscommon County General Fund and the Linda Chwan & Ken Deperro Memorial Fund. The benches provide comfort for one of the county’s fastest-growing recreational groups.

Added Comfort for Players

The new seating offers senior players a place to rest, gives everyone relief during hot summer days, and encourages conversation between games. These benches are now a central spot for players to relax and recharge between matches.

Community Partnership in Action

Denton Township supported the project by anchoring the benches securely to the concrete staging area near the courts. This collaboration shows how local partnerships continue to support and expand community-led recreation projects.

Strengthening Local Recreation

By adding this seating, the Houghton Lake Pickleball Club has improved the playing experience for members and visitors. The project highlights the role of grants and local teamwork in enhancing facilities for residents.
