Meade Field Pickleball Court Expansion: Peachtree City Council voted this week to expand the planned pickleball facility at Meade Field from 12 courts to 18. The decision came after a large group of residents attended the meeting to show support for the larger number of courts. Many wore “18” stickers to highlight their position.
During public comment, one resident compared Peachtree City to Newnan, saying, “Newnan is roughly the size of Peachtree City, and they have 20 public-access pickleball fields.” They noted that local players often travel to Newnan or Griffin for games and then spend money there instead of in Peachtree City.
City Honors Summer 2025 Interns
The meeting opened with Human Resources Director Dr. Teaa Allston-Bing recognizing the Summer 2025 Interns. She praised their professionalism and commitment, calling it a “testament to the future of public service.” She also thanked the city departments that guided them.
The interns presented a short video expressing gratitude for the opportunity, saying the experience supported their growth as civic leaders.
Additional Community Approvals
The council accepted donations to support public recreation programs and to fund memorial benches at various park locations. Approval was granted for renovations at Fire Station 83. The council also approved a dock permit for a Lake Peachtree property on Hip Pocket Road.
Impact of the Decision
City leaders expect the 18-court expansion to keep more pickleball players in town and attract new participants. This could bring more visitors to local businesses and strengthen Peachtree City’s reputation as a recreational destination.
