“If you build it, they will come. If you don’t build it, they’re not coming. You know, the same thing happened in Ruston; they built those ball fields, and they got criticized.
Well, if you look across north Louisiana, I think we’ve had 60, 70 new hotels in the last ten years, a lot of it sports tourism. We have a team that travels the country bringing travel events, tournaments at Olympic trials, we had volleyball in Shreveport. These are things that are bringing dollars to the community,” (Billy Nungesser).
He added that the new facility is a smart investment for the city, noting the growing popularity of pickleball nationwide.
