CityPicklePalooza Union Square Pickleball Event: Union Square in New York City will host CityPicklePalooza on Thursday, August 21, turning the North Plaza into a pickleball hub from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free event is part of the Union Square Partnership’s Free Summer Programming and will feature two pro-level courts.
CityPickle’s professional players will run the day in partnership with Major League Pickleball. Activities will be open to all skill levels, from first-time players to seasoned competitors.
Activities for All Ages and Skills
Beginners can join an instructional clinic, while children aged 9 to 12 have their own sessions. Experienced players can compete in the Major League Pickleball Beat the Pros Challenge, facing off against top pickleball athletes.
Those looking for a casual game can join open play sessions with friends. No competition is required to enjoy the event.
More Than Just Pickleball
Visitors can enjoy pop-ups and sampling stations from brands including N!CK’s, RYZE, DoorDash, Playkout, Juice Plus, Electrolit, Dig Inn, and Franklin. The event will also feature games, giveaways, and surprises.
At 4 p.m., the “Down to Flirt” social mixer will give attendees a chance to meet new people.
A Lead-Up to the MLP Tournament Finals
CityPicklePalooza serves as a preview for the Major League Pickleball Tournament Finals, which will be held August 22–24 at Central Park’s Wollman Rink.
Court reservations for CityPicklePalooza open at noon on August 14 through the CityPickle app. Organizers encourage early booking due to high demand for spots.
