Littleton Pickleball Court Community Project: Halifax EMC and CoBank have donated funds to build new public pickleball and tennis courts in Littleton, North Carolina. On August 8, Halifax EMC presented a $5,000 check to C.A.R.E./The John 3:16 Center. CoBank matched the amount through its Sharing Success program.
The project will create four pickleball courts and one tennis court on the grounds of The John 3:16 Center. Grading work is already in progress. The courts will be open to the public from dawn to dusk.
A Boost for Recreation and Health
“Our goal is to bring fitness and fun to families in the community,”
said Shannon McAllister, executive director of The John 3:16 Center.
“We’re also excited to create a space that enhances the recreational education we offer to children in our programs.”
Tucker Lemley, chief executive officer of Halifax EMC, said,
“The Co-op is proud to support a project that focuses on the well-being of local residents and creates accessible spaces that bring people together through physical activity and play.”
Support from Local and National Partners
CoBank, a national cooperative bank based in Colorado, supports rural communities by matching donations from its members through its Sharing Success program. This doubled the contribution for the Littleton courts project.
The new courts aim to provide more opportunities for outdoor activity and social connection, encouraging residents of all ages to stay active.
