Special Olympics Indiana Pickleball Clinic: The Picklr Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis will host Special Olympics Indiana’s first pickleball training clinic from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The clinic will introduce 36 athletes and 27 coaches from across Indiana to the sport ahead of the organization’s first pickleball competition season in 2026.
Athlete and Coach Training
During the clinic, athletes from 12 counties will learn basic pickleball skills and fundamentals. Coaches from 14 counties will receive sport-specific training to become familiar with the rules, pickleball techniques, Special Olympics modifications, and assessment methods.
Becca Hsu, Club Coordinator at The Picklr Keystone Crossing, said,
“We’re thrilled to host this initial training clinic for Special Olympics Indiana. Pickleball is a very strong community-building sport, and we feel it will be a great addition as one of Special Olympics’ competitive sports offerings next year.”
Location and Future Plans
The Picklr Keystone Crossing is located at 3810 E. 82nd Street in Indianapolis. The clinic marks the first step in Special Olympics Indiana’s introduction of pickleball, with more clubs expected to open across the state in 2026.
The event aims to provide athletes with foundational skills and coaches with the knowledge needed to support competition. It also reflects pickleball’s growing popularity and its potential to foster community engagement among Special Olympics participants.
