Creekwood Park Set for Major Pickleball Expansion—Here’s What Perry Residents Can Expect

Creekwood Park Pickleball Court Upgrades: Perry Leisure Services has started major upgrades at city parks, including new pickleball courts at Creekwood Park and new soccer fields at Rozar Park. Construction work begins next week, and the pickleball courts are expected to be finished by mid-fall.

Major Changes Underway

The upgrades are part of a master plan approved by the mayor and city council last year. Creekwood Park will undergo 15 phases of improvements, with the biggest change being six new pickleball courts. Rozar Park will see 12 phases of upgrades, including new soccer fields and lighting.

“Demo will start actually next week, so we’re very excited and happy to have that come,”

said Curtis Coates, Leisure Services Director.

Community Excitement

Local players are welcoming the changes. Cindy Conine, who runs a tennis team, said she enjoys using Perry’s courts and looks forward to the added facilities.

“We love coming out here. It’s awesome. I love Perry. I love the fact that we have these courts for free. We use these facilities for practice.

Our season’s getting ready to start next week and so we’re practicing as much as we can utilizing these courts.”(Cindy Conine)

Conine also welcomed the new pickleball courts, noting the competition for space.

“Sometimes they get crowded so we’re excited that we’ve heard there’s gonna be a new facility coming in.

Tennis and pickleball compete for the courts so we’re excited that they’re gonna add some pickleball courts too for those players.”(Cindy Conine)

Growing Demand

According to Curtis Coates, soccer participation in Perry has grown nearly 20% in recent years. The new soccer fields at Rozar Park will help meet this demand. Contractors will have 60 days to finish the new pickleball courts once site work begins.

Looking Ahead

The improvements at Creekwood and Rozar parks are designed to support both current needs and future growth. With new spaces for pickleball and soccer, the city hopes to encourage healthy recreation and reduce crowding on existing courts and fields.
