About the Tournament

The California Gold Cup is part of the APA Tour, the largest amateur pickleball circuit in the nation, with nearly 150 events scheduled in 2025. The APA also offers PicklePerks, where participants earn money from registration and event wins that can be applied to future tournaments or apparel.

Players will compete in divisions based on skill first and age second, depending on total registrations. The event features round-robin play followed by bracket matches, with most players competing in 7-9 games during the tournament.

Event Format and Schedule

Matches will start with Doubles at 8:00 AM on Saturday and Mixed Doubles at 8:00 AM on Sunday. Singles will be played in the afternoons. Doubles matches follow a single-game round-robin format to 11 points, win by 2, with bracket play afterward. Singles matches use rally scoring to 21 points, win by 2.

Players must register in their proper skill levels. Those with 25+ games posted to DUPR and a 60%+ reliability rating will play at their posted rating.

Registration and Refund Policy

Early Bird registration rates are $85 for the first event, $65 for the second, and $45 for a third event with a discount code. All payments are final once processed. APA offers credits for withdrawals made 2+ weeks before the event or for players without partners or late registrations who cannot be added to the schedule. Outdoor events do not have indoor backup courts, with partial credits provided only under specific conditions.

Prize Money

The California Gold Cup will include cash prizes in the OPEN Doubles divisions, open to all skill levels and ages. Payouts per team are: Gold – $1,000 (50%), Silver – $600 (30%), Bronze – $400 (20%).
