From Pro Player to Author
Lisa Palcic once competed at the 5.0 professional level but stepped away due to injuries. With more time available, she finally answered a question she had often heard: would she write a book? The result is a detailed guide she hopes players will use as a constant reference.
A Different Kind of Pickleball Book
Palcic explained how her book sets itself apart. “We put it together like a college textbook so that it would be a forever resource for somebody that’s playing. So, it’s not like any of the other books on the market that are smaller, have less information, and really don’t go as in depth as I’ve gone in the book. It’s a book that’s meant to be brought with you to the courts. One day, if all of a sudden you can’t hit a backhand and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh I wish Lisa was here to tell me what to do!’ Well, I can be there on the court with you if you have the book with you.”
Teaching and Community Outreach
Over the years, Lisa Palcic has coached tens of thousands of players, including WABI’s Sierra Whaley and Brittany McHatten. To celebrate her book, she is offering discounted signed copies on Wednesday, August 27, at the Armstrong Tennis Center in Hampden. That event will also feature a free Bablot demo night, where players can try new paddles before they hit the market.
Looking Ahead
Beyond her book, Lisa Palcic is continuing to train players through IPTPA Teaching Workshops. These workshops offer certification for aspiring instructors and advanced training for players. Information is available through her website.
