Pickle Juice Pickleball Community Hub: Pickle Juice Pickleball Club in Ventnor, New Jersey, is offering more than just an indoor sports facility. It has become a community space where players of all skill levels gather to exercise, make friends, and enjoy fresh juice year-round.
A Vision Turned Into Reality
The club was founded by Lisa Brody, who has played pickleball for 10 years. She discovered the game at the Margate shores and says it changed her life.
“I’ve been playing for 10 years,” Lisa Brody said. “I learned down here at the Margate shores. It just changed my life.”
After returning to North Jersey, she missed the outdoor games and the friendships she built on the courts.
“I played outside for so many years,” Lisa Brody said. “Met wonderful people, but when I went back home to North Jersey, I lost that feeling of playing with other people and the weather got cold.”
That led to her idea of creating an indoor version of the outdoor experience.
“I had the idea of the concept of bringing the outside indoors,” Lisa Brody said.
How Pickle Juice Got Its Name
The name “Pickle Juice” comes from Lisa Brody’s own routine.
All I wanted to do was play pickle and grab the juice,” Lisa Brody said. “That’s what I would tell my family. I’m going to play pickleball and I’m going to grab a juice — and voila, Pickle Juice.
Her daughter, Miranda Brody, now serves as general manager and instructor. She says she is proud to see her mother’s dream come alive.
“Just seeing her passion and everything here coming to life at Pickle Juice is amazing to see every day,” Miranda Brody said.
Building Community Through Pickleball
The club is more than a sports venue. Members say it has helped them find friendships and a sense of belonging.
“My husband and I started playing last summer outside, and we discovered this beautiful facility,” player Vicki Harad said. “Now we’re here every day. We came here not knowing anybody. We have a whole network of 45, 50 new friends.”
In addition to five indoor courts, the club also features a juice bar that serves smoothies and snacks with fun names like the Peppermint Paddle and Cinnamon Smash.
The Joy of the Sport
Pickleball’s fast pace and easy learning curve attract players of all ages.
It’s a combination of ping pong, badminton, and tennis, and just the speed of the ball and your footwork is just unbelievable,” Vicki Harad said. “It’s a great sport. It’s just the best sport. It’s easy to learn. It’s not that expensive. You meet people, and it’s just great exercise and all-around fun.”
Growth and Future Plans
Pickle Juice offers flexible memberships, from drop-in play to yearly plans. Interest continues to grow, and the facility has already expanded with a second location in Blackwood, New Jersey. The National Pickleball League is also scheduled to arrive next month, adding more momentum.
