Houston Gold Cup Pickleball Tournament Promises Big Prizes, Intense Action, and Perks for All Players

Houston Gold Cup Pickleball Tournament 2025: The Amateur Pickleball Association will host the Houston Gold Cup on September 6–7, 2025, at Chicken N Pickle in Webster, Texas. Players of all skill levels will compete in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, with cash prizes available in the open divisions.

Event Details

The tournament will take place at Chicken N Pickle, located at 210 Blue Heron Drive in Webster. Registration costs $65 and closes on September 2, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. CST.

Events will be divided by skill levels from 2.5 to 5.0, and then further separated by age divisions if numbers allow. Players can expect round-robin play followed by brackets, with most competitors playing between seven and nine games across the event.

Schedule and Format

Doubles will begin on Saturday at 8:00 a.m., while mixed doubles are scheduled for Sunday at the same time. Singles matches will be played in the afternoons on either day.

Each player is guaranteed six games. Round-robin matches will be played to 11 points, win by two. Medal matches in brackets will be best two out of three games.

Registration and Perks

The Amateur Pickleball Association, which is running nearly 150 tournaments in 2025, offers PicklePerks, a program where players earn rewards with every registration and victory. These rewards can be used toward future tournament fees or apparel.

Early registration pricing is available: $65 for the first event, $50 for the second, and $35 for the third with a discount code.

Additional Rules

Players must compete in divisions that match their DUPR rating. Anyone with at least 25 posted games and a 60% reliability rating will play in their assigned DUPR category. This rule prevents players from entering lower divisions.

The Amateur Pickleball Association has also outlined tie-breaking and seeding policies, which all participants are expected to review before registering.

Refund Policy

Organizers have made clear that all registrations are final. No refunds will be given, though credits are possible under certain circumstances.

  • Withdrawals made two weeks before the event may receive a full credit.

  • If weather cancels outdoor matches before play begins, a 50% credit will be issued.

  • Once play starts, no credits will be given.

  • Players who cannot be matched with a partner will receive credit for a future event, but no refund.

Prize Money

Open doubles divisions will feature cash prizes for the top three teams if divisions sell out. The payouts are:

  • Gold: $1,000

  • Silver: $600

  • Bronze: $400

Prizes will be divided by percentage: 50% for gold, 30% for silver, and 20% for bronze.

Why It Matters

The Houston Gold Cup gives amateur players a chance to compete in a professional-style environment while earning rewards and recognition. With prize money, structured play, and a growing community, the event adds to the Amateur Pickleball Association’s goal of expanding pickleball opportunities nationwide.
