Jerry Maunus Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser: The first Jerry Maunus Pickleball Tournament, held this summer at the courts near Harbor Topky Library, brought together 18 teams and raised $2,000 for The American Heart Association in memory of Jerry Maunus, who passed away from a heart attack.
Tournament Highlights
Twelve teams competed in the Open Division and six in the Women’s Division. Medals were awarded to the top three teams in each group.
“We had great weather and great competition,”
tournament organizer Richard Kriesher said.
Jill Oliver credited Richard Kriesher for guiding the family through the planning process.
“He guided the family on what was needed to run the tournament. We could not have done this without him.
“We also want to thank all of the participants who played in the tournament and the sponsors who supported our efforts to raise money for The American Heart Association.”(Jill Oliver )

Honoring Jerry Maunus
The Maunus family announced that the tournament will now be an annual tradition to honor Jerry Maunus’s memory. Plans are already in place for next year’s tournament on June 20.
