Cville SMASH was created to meet the rising demand for pickleball in the area. Founders say the sport’s appeal comes from its accessibility and community atmosphere.
“We’re going to have beer, wine. We’re going to have food. We’re going to have hang-out areas, darts, ping-pong tables. It’s not just pickleball, but there’s a lot of other things that we’re going to have in this indoor space,
said Colleen Shearer, one of the founders.
Organized Play for All Levels
The facility will feature options for players of every skill level. Organizers say this setup will make competition more structured than most outdoor games, where players don’t always know who will attend.
“There will also be lots of pay-to-play opportunities where you can just come in and do a two-hour open play session or a clinic to learn to improve your skills and learn how to play more.
That organized play, signing up knowing you’re going to have six people on your team to rotate and play with is really important,”
said Lauren Carbo, a founder.
