Latitude 42 Pickleball Complex Opening: Pickleball players in Kalamazoo will soon have a new place to play. The Latitude 42 Pickleball Complex in Oshtemo Township will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, September 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitors can enjoy free pickleball, food, music, and games during the event.
Facility Features
The 37,000-square-foot complex is located at 2001 South 11th Street. It includes 14 tournament-size courts with professional lighting, social areas, and courtside seating for spectators. With this addition, West Hills Athletic Club now has a total of 22 pickleball courts.
Cost and Donations
The project cost $7 million to build and is located on the north side of the West Hills Athletic Club building. Ruth Stoddard and Mike Stoddard, founders of Latitude 42 Brewing Company, made a donation toward the project. General manager Betsy Sell confirmed the donation but said the amount was not made public.
Membership Details
West Hills Athletic Club offers individual memberships at $60 per month. Employees of Western Michigan University automatically receive membership at the club.
Community Impact
The new facility highlights the rapid growth of pickleball in the region. By adding professional courts and spectator areas, the complex is expected to draw more players, tournaments, and community events, further boosting interest in the sport across Kalamazoo.
