Louisiana State Games Pickleball Tournament Returns—Who Will Earn a Shot at National Glory?

Louisiana State Games Pickleball Tournament: The Louisiana State Games Pickleball Tournament will take place on September 13 and 14, 2025, at the West Monroe Sports Facility in West Monroe, Louisiana. Registration costs $60 and closes on September 7 at 11:55 p.m. CST. The event is open to all players, including those from outside the state.

Tournament Details

The competition is part of the Louisiana State Games, an event created to support amateur sports and encourage a healthier lifestyle. Winners will advance to the State Games of America, a national Olympic-style competition that brings together medalists from similar state games across the country.

This year’s pickleball tournament is sanctioned by the Southern Pickleball Association. The registration fee covers one event, and players can join extra events for $15 each. The schedule includes men’s and women’s doubles on Saturday, September 13, followed by mixed doubles on Sunday, September 14. Play may begin as early as 8:00 a.m. each day. Final start times will be emailed about a week before the event.

Competition Format

The event will follow a round-robin format, with medal matches or medal brackets for groups larger than four teams. Tournament officials may merge brackets if needed to ensure competition is fair and balanced. Merged brackets will be combined by age when possible.

Skill levels include 2.5 through 5.0+, and age groups are divided into 16+, 35+, 50+, 60+, and 70+. Teams must compete at the higher skill level of the two partners and the younger player’s age group. Ages are calculated as of December 31, 2025.

DUPR ratings will be used to place players. Tournament staff will update entries if ratings change before registration ends. Players with a DUPR reliability rating of 50 or lower can appeal their score.

Registration and Partner Rules

Players may sign up with a partner or mark “Need partner.” If a partner does not register within five days, the team will be moved to the waitlist until both have paid. Once a partner registers, the team will move back to the active list if slots remain.

Matches will be self-monitored, though referees may be provided if requested. Mizuno is the official shoe sponsor of the Southern Pickleball Association.

Rules and Equipment

The Southern Pickleball Association follows the USA Pickleball Rulebook. Players are encouraged to read the rulebook before competing. Only paddles approved by USA Pickleball may be used in the tournament.

“Thank you for helping us uphold the integrity of the sport!” organizers stated.

Refunds and Insurance

The deadline to withdraw is August 25 at midnight. Refunds requested before this date will be issued minus a $20 fee. No refunds will be offered after August 25 unless the player has purchased tournament insurance. Insurance covers cancelations due to weather, injuries, or family emergencies. Fees cannot be transferred to other players.

Significance of the Event

The Louisiana State Games Pickleball Tournament brings together athletes of all ages and skill levels to celebrate community and competition. It also gives medalists the chance to compete on the national stage at the State Games of America, strengthening pickleball’s role as one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
