Brussels Unveils Six New Pickleball Courts—A Community Effort Set to Transform Local Play

Brussels Pickleball Courts Community Project: The Town of Brussels now has six new pickleball courts for residents and visitors. The courts are located in the town park, just north of School Road and south of the park shelter. The project was led by Mimi Schmidt Smith, who will serve on the Door County Pickleball Club executive committee.

The Door County Pickleball Club covered all costs for line painting, nets, and balls. Members of the club, along with local Brussels residents, spent over six hours painting the court lines. Nets and balls are now available at the courts for players to use.

Community Effort and Leadership

Mimi Schmidt Smith spearheaded the initiative and represents the southern Door area on the Door County Pickleball Club executive committee. The project relied on volunteers from both the club and the local community to complete the courts quickly and efficiently.

Door County Pickleball Club President Jay Renstrom said the courts will serve as a hub for pickleball players from Green Bay and Door County to meet, socialize, and play. The new courts are expected to strengthen the sport’s community presence and encourage more local participation.
