Charlottesville Pickleball Fundraiser: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge, in partnership with the Central Virginia Pickleball Club, will host their second annual pickleball tournament, “The Big Serve,” on Saturday, September 27. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville. Proceeds will support local mentorship programs.
Event Purpose and Activities
The tournament is designed to do more than just provide fun. Every rally helps raise funds for programs that pair children with positive role models. Participants will also learn to play pickleball, giving kids and their Bigs a new recreational activity to enjoy together.
Molly Jackson, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge, said, “We just thought it was a cool opportunity to not only raise some funds for our program but again also teach the matches how to play pickleball so that they’re able to go out afterwards and have that as a fun activity that they can do with their Bigs.”
Community Engagement
The event encourages families, volunteers, and community members to participate in a fun and meaningful activity. It strengthens connections in Charlottesville while promoting healthy recreation and supporting mentorship opportunities for local youth.
