Game Changer: Port Orchard Pickleball Club to Bring 12-Court Indoor Facility and Social Hub to Tremont Shopping Center

Port Orchard Pickleball Club Launch: A new indoor pickleball facility called the Port Orchard Pickleball Club, or “The POP,” is planned for the Tremont Place Shopping Center at Bethel and Lund Avenue. The project, led by JLC Development, LLC, and Colby Ave I, LLC, is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026.

Facility Features

The 12-court venue will include cushioned sport floors, mezzanine seating, golf simulators, and outdoor gathering areas. Locker rooms, showers, and roll-up doors for fresh air are also planned. The championship court will allow for large tournaments, while free Wi-Fi and seating areas will give players space to relax.

Developer’s Vision

Jordan White, one of the developers and owners, explained the idea came after purchasing the Tremont Shopping Center in 2022.

“We had always envisioned developing the vacant land behind the shopping center, but were unsure of what we wanted to develop. Pickleball has become extremely popular in Washington, and we noticed a lack of indoor and outdoor courts in Port Orchard.”(Jordan White)

White added that the POP is meant to be more than just courts.

“We see this facility having a positive impact on the Port Orchard community and the surrounding areas. We envision the POP as a hub for recreation in Port Orchard where people can come and enjoy themselves in a relaxed setting or through competition.”(Jordan White)

Membership and Access

Membership details are still being finalized, but White confirmed that casual players will also be able to pay fees during open play hours.

“Both experienced players and newcomers will be welcome at the POP. We plan to have various opportunities for participation, including open play, organized league play with different tiers of competition, tournament hosting, and coaching.”(Jordan White)

The developers are also open to partnerships with schools and youth groups to increase access for young players.

Timeline and Planning

Construction is expected to start in early 2026, with opening planned for late 2026 or early 2027. White admitted timelines could change but said the group remains optimistic.

“We are aware that timelines can change as with any construction project,” (Jordan White).

H+DLT Architects, a firm experienced in recreation design, has been hired. A contractor specializing in similar projects will also be brought in.

Long-Term Goals

The POP is expected to host regional and national tournaments, though expansion beyond Kitsap County is not planned.

“The POP is a family-owned and locally operated facility, and we have no plans to expand beyond Port Orchard at this time,” (Jordan White).

Why It Matters

The facility is designed to provide a professional playing space not often available on community courts. Developers hope it will grow pickleball in the area, attract tournaments, and serve as a social hub for players of all levels.
